“ One of our favourite easy summer evening activities is plane spotting along Melbourne Airport plane spotting area. It’s such a simple but fun spot for families, park nearby, grab some kebabs or ice cream from the Airport Ice cream food truck, and watch the planes come in low overhead. The kids never get bored, especially when we open the FlightRadar24 app to see which planes are landing next. It’s best just before sunset, when the light is beautiful and the planes keep coming. There’s plenty of space to stand or sit, it’s free, and it doesn’t require much planning at all. Perfect for a low-key outing, especially if you want something different that doesn’t cost much and keeps kids genuinely excited. A great little Melbourne hidden gem for families. ”

“ Nice ice cream at this plane viewing area. They also sell hot food. Ice cream had few variety. It located at the roundabout. Plenty of parking nearby. Very close to Melbourne airport. Lots of airport staff and taxis stop here. You can see plane landing with plane bottom close up. There are not much sitting area. Ice cream is OK, not the best. Price is ok. Only accessible by car. Best waiting area if wait for friends and family at the airport. ”

“ It's been great to see this go from a little truck to a bigger truck and now a full size 40 seater bus. No trip to the airport is complete without visiting this area for some plane spotting. On this visit got the Gozleme and something I wouldn't get myself but shared, and it was quite good. ”

“ We unexpectedly had a stop at the end of the Melbourne Airport runway, primarily to watch the planes land and take off. Luckily for us, there we found Airport Ice Cream! We had the caramel milkshake, a spinach gozleme and the mixed HSP. They were SO GOOD!!!! And the gents were just lovely. One of them set us up on milk crates and a park bench as a table. 5 star service! But most of all, we loved the food. And the fabulous service. And the gozlemes. Did I mention the gozlemes? Soooo good!!! Highly recommend!! ”
